Fellowship Program

Goals of the Fellowship Program
The primary goal of the Rheumatology Fellowship Program is to prepare physicians for a career in clinical and/or academic rheumatology.

Program Experience
The rheumatology program provides an extensive experience in clinical rheumatology. This includes:

  • Ambulatory experience: The fellows have a continuity clinic twice a week under the supervision of a faculty member. They also do weekly clinics at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center and rotate at Children's Hospital of Michigan outpatient department for three months.
  • Inpatient experience: The rheumatology fellows act as consultants for inpatients at the hospitals of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC). The consult team is made of a rheumatology fellow, an Internal Medicine resident(s), a Wayne State University medical student and an attending rheumatology faculty member.
